rubber keypads are available in a variety of colors and configurations.
Nonconductive rubber is used for the keys and conductive rubber is used
for the pill inserts. When used in conjunction with copper contacts
etched in a printed circuit board, a wide variety of switching
configurations can be accomplished. Rubber keypads can be integrated with
membrane switches in applications where a printed circuit board is not
available.
